Rooted in Community

An Institute of Museum and Library Sciences Grant where K.E., project lead, prototyped and created experiences for the new Discovery Place Nature set to open in 2025. The purpose of this grant was to learn and employ best practices in DEAI internally and externally while also using community research to create experiences and exhibits that are relevant, applicable to the residents of Charlotte, and that encourage intergenerational learning in the space.

LEGO MUSEUM INITIATIVE

As project manager, K.E. led the Learning Through Play (LTP) Initiative at Discovery Place consisting of:

  1. Unfacilitated tinkering experiences across three museums (Discovery Place Science, Discovery Place Kids Huntersville, Discovery Place Kids Rockingham).
  2. 9-week community-based designed challenge across 10 community sites, impacting 2,000 underserved youth.
  3. A showcase capturing the story and celebrating all 2,000 youth and the cross-team work in the museums.
